Kingdom Greetings, Royal Ones!
Our first education opportunity of the year is next week and this entry is for all of you who plan to join us via conference call. I’m so excited to have you and know we all will gain from our time together.
#1: INFORMAL PERSONALITY ASSESSMENTS
If you never completed a personality assessment, please do! The four basic temperaments we refer to in this class are classic descriptions (and the simplest to cover in person and by phone with a time limit!). Please read through the documents on the Popular Sanguine, Perfect Melancholy, Powerful Choleric, and Peaceful Phlegmatic and place yourself to the one with which you most identify.
Note: If you ever took the Meyers-Briggs assessment, then your results will be extremely helpful as our primary textbook connects the prayer styles to these results. As stated, for simpler class content, we refer to the classic terms.
#2: LECTIO DIVINA
We begin with a prayer style that dates back to the fourth and fifth centuries. Credited to John Cassian for its travel from the East to the West, this prayer style is our foundation and is most connected to St. Benedict. All of us can use it, regardless of temperament and whether we are introverts or extroverts. There are four stages — reading, meditation, prayer and contemplation. We will complete an exercise together.
#3: PERSONALITY BLENDS
We will review the personality types based on the attached documents above, and then talk about natural blends, complimentary blends and opposites. Then, we will offer some examples of biblical characters and their supposed personality types. This document will help us as we cover the blends.
#4: PRAYER STYLES
This part of the class is the reason we gather — to explore the prayer styles attached to each personality type. We plan to complete short exercises for each to help us understand each personality type’s lenses. The styles are named for (L-R) St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Francis, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine. I pray it’s a blessing to you! I’m certain it will!
#5: PRAYER OF BLESSING
By this point (hopefully, 2 hours later), we will wrap up the prayer clinic and I’ll pray a blessing over us for ministry service.
Note: There is no registration for this class, but we ask that you prepare a $10 donation. By all means, give more as Holy Spirit leads you. Last year, your kind donations helped The Queen Life purchase a digital recorder. This year, our goal is a digital camera. Callers, you may go to the “Giving to The Queen Life” page and give via PayPal. Thank you in advance for your prayerful consideration.
Love to all, and I’ll meet you next week!
