Romans 10:1-4 NASB
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. 2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. 3 For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the friend of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
There is a prayer meeting at a large church building. It is not traditional — like a midnight or early morning prayer. There are lots of people, over 100 at least. People gather and the prayer leader calls them to order. Suddenly, the prayer leader responds to an unction to call all the people into the large center aisle. They squeeze in from all corners of the sanctuary as the prayer leader nullifies and strips power from the enemy’s destructive plans. It is at this moment that outside, a team of people plant explosives around the entire building. But because of obedience to move and pray, when the explosives go off they are minimized to small harmless fireworks.
Use wisdom when you plan these prophetic and strategic prayer meetings. If the purpose of the prayer meeting is a response to current events or other promptings (reactionary), then complete some research.
- Prayer focus and potential spiritual opposition
- Time and Watch to conduct prayer
- Biblical model (be Spirit led and Bible based)
- Examine potential regional issues where you’ll host the prayer meeting to offset possible casualties and consequences
- Call for seers to help
Don’t let the zeal/charismata of a reactionary prayer meeting cause you to move without preparation. We prepare to pray.
Make sure there’s spiritual covering for the gathering (e.g., host pastors, your pastor, etc.). Encourage attendees to tell their leaders of their participation.
Naturally, contact the police department. Alert them to the prayer meeting and times for prayer. Request patrol during prayer.
Above all, know that the power of agreement works for all when Holy Ghost reveals threats.
John 10:10 NASB
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Proverbs 4:7 NASB
7 “The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; and with all your acquiring, get understanding.Romans 8:1414 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
