Today while driving to work I started thinking about giving a person a gift. This is a person who receives gifts quite often, and you know how it goes with those people…what do you buy and where do you start?

My thoughts turned to uniqueness. I don’t want to get something different, per se, but I do want to give something special. I imagined the face-to-face meeting over a meal in a nice place, and how I might present this gift. Then it hit me.

The story behind the gift will add to its uniqueness.

Nothing compares to receiving a gift, and then learning why the giver thought this gift was perfect for you. It’s a feeling to treasure when you realize you weigh that heavily on someone else’s mind. They went on a search for a gift for you…and now it’s yours. They won’t take it back because it’s not a fit for them, but for you.

The Bible says God chose us; we didn’t choose Him (John 15:16). And, He gave us gifts and a calling and they are irrevocable (Romans 11:29). He also thinks enough of us to give us what fits us; it’s the treasure in our earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7).

journalWhat’s the lesson (reminder)? Tell your story because it adds value to your gift..not for the execution of the gift, but for the impact in another person’s life! Your story is attached to your triumphant identity in Christ, though it was born through your struggle or trial. The emphasis is on the better end that results when we go through with Christ.

Hope your drives to work are as inspiring as mine! Selah, and love to all.
