Good day, Kingdom Queens!

I told you I was coming upon verses in Bible study…well, while we continue mining the Word on the spirit of the scorner and the seat of the scornful this one hit me. Proverbs 24:9 says,

The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

Side note: This verse is couched between two declarations. First, call the person who plans to do evil a schemer (v. 8). Second, the person who faints in adversity has small strength (v. 10). Just an observation…preach this part to yourself. (Reveal Holy Spirit!)

This verse says plainly that to plan for folly is sin. And, the scorner is an abomination to men. This is a strong word, abomination, and it alarms me a bit when I consider what we know now about the seat of the scornful.

When we consider abomination in Scripture, it is what is disgusting to the Lord. It is against His will. It is what He abhors. Proverbs 24:9 says the scorner is an abomination to men. My question to us, is do we know this? And, if we know this, do our relationships reflect our knowledge?

Remember that the scorner enters a cycle of scorn with God Himself. Proverbs 24:9 explains the result of the cycle. The behavior and manner of the scorner becomes an abomination (morally disgusting) to men. The patterns of scorn — mockery, putting one’s mouth on everything — in not attractive and over time wears down relationship and changes the image of the scorner in the eyes of others.

We are given a seat and a royal commission by God to represent Him and reign with Him. What is disgusting to Him must be disgusting to us. Let’s start with ourselves, and be the change we want to see.

Selah, and love to all.
